The Chinese manufacturer will showcase innovative, virtually borderless display technology at IFA 2026.
Chinese company Tecno, known for its bold technological projects, will present its latest innovation at the upcoming IFA 2026 trade fair. Instead of super-thin modular solutions or pop-up lenses, this time they are returning to the race for a smartphone with a completely borderless display. While top models from Apple and Samsung achieve approximately 90% front surface coverage, and Xiaomi and Honor even reach 95%, Tecno claims that their new concept brings a display with a true zero-millimeter border as the first in the industry.
To make this bold claim a reality, Tecno has completely redesigned the structure of the display itself. Using advanced internal stacking and new packaging techniques, engineers have managed to remove every last millimeter of the casing that was previously necessary to accommodate internal circuitry and safety clearances. The company says that its edge measures exactly 0 micrometers, promising an incredibly immersive visual experience, although this raises the question of the screen's sensitivity to accidental touches during normal handling of the device.
Although it is currently just a concept device, the company is ambitiously emphasizing that such a borderless display will represent a recognizable design language for their future smartphone models. With this unique visual identity, Tecno could seize the opportunity to break into a market that has been strongly consolidated in recent years. Time will tell whether the brand, which is rarely present in the markets of Western Europe and the US, will be able to stand alongside the largest global players with this innovation.
