The company is not yet well-known in the news world, but the Brühl-based company has developed a clearly recognizable concept for motorhomes in a short time. The new “Zwei L” is not a revolution with confetti, but a very well-thought-out further development of the well-known “Zwei” model.
As with other handmade conversions with their own style, it's not about being overly pompous, but about making smart use of every inch. A similar approach is used by Flowcamper Moritz, for example, which combines handmade quality with technology suitable for everyday use. Algovia also shows how versatile the space in a camper can be with its Escape 540 and Evoke 600 models.
The Kompanja “Zwei L” is based on the Citroën Jumper and is 58 centimetres longer than the “Zwei”, which means it measures around six metres. This extra length makes a decisive difference, as for the first time in the Kompanja it is possible to sleep in a longitudinal position. The compact bed in the rear is thus transformed into a solution that is more reminiscent of a classic single bed than a gymnastic exercise before going to bed.
The new bed is 1,92 meters long and 1,96 meters wide. The space can be used as single beds, as well as large bunk beds or even as a transverse bed with a width of about 1,30 meters. The legs at the end of the bed can be raised, creating a rest area function, allowing the interior space to be used not only at night, but also after the end of the working day.
Despite the longer back, the basic design remains familiar: Kompanja uses natural materials, lots of warm wood and an oiled bamboo worktop. The kitchen is equipped with a two-burner gas stove, a stainless steel sink and a refrigerator built into the front, which can also be accessed from the outside.
The folding outdoor table on the back wall is also part of the equipment and fits well with the design, which does not strictly separate the indoor and outdoor spaces, but rather connects them more casually. Standard solutions are also not used in the bathroom. Kompanja pulls out the entire shower and toilet area like a drawer, so that when closed, more space remains in the living area.
The dry separate toilet sits on a raised pedestal and is also equipped with heating and active air extraction, so that the space is not only for showering but also for drying wet clothes. This is not a wellness-style bathroom with marble, but one that offers much more than just good looks in everyday motorhome life.
The basis of the seating group continues to be the swiveling front seats and the bench seat. The bench seat can be adjusted in width and angle, and there are also two tables that maintain a free passage in the middle and allow for a variety of uses of the interior space. The Isofix system is installed as standard, so that, according to Kompanja, up to five seats and sleeping places can be arranged, which means that the "Zwei L" model, despite its single-bed design, is not limited to couples.
The familiar Kompanja model is also evident in the technology on board. A lithium battery with a capacity of 100 Ah is installed as standard, and significantly larger storage capacities of up to 600 Ah are available as an option. In addition, there is a 90-liter drinking water tank, a hot water heater and, depending on the configuration, an extensive infrastructure for power supply and charging.
The company also lists a payload of up to 750 kilograms for the “Zwei” model. This is reduced with the pop-up roof, depending on the equipment, but the number of sleeping places increases to up to five. The “Zwei L” model is expected to cost around 74.300 euros, which is around 8.000 euros more than the “Zwei” model.
The regular Kompanja “Zwei” remains the shorter and somewhat more compact basic version in the range. With a length of 5,41 meters and a height of 2,52 meters, it is noticeably more agile than the new “Zwei L”, but it continues to offer the modular concept that Kompanja has implemented from the very beginning on the basis of the Jumper model. The Citroën Jumper L2H2 serves as the basis, which can be optionally supplemented with up to 180 PS of power, an 8-speed automatic transmission, assistance systems and other accessories.
The “Zwei” model features a transversely mounted rear bed that can be extended if desired, successfully combining everyday usability with sleeping comfort. This is actually the biggest advantage of this model: it remains compact while offering the full equipment of a motorhome with a kitchen, bathroom, storage space and a flexible seating area.
The “Zwei” model is also designed for up to five people, if the configuration allows. With the raised roof section, the two-person model quickly transforms into a family solution without the floor plan appearing too stretched. This is the charm of the new “Zwei L” model.
Those who have previously struggled with a transverse bed or preferred classic single beds now have a longer alternative that does not negate the characteristic character of the Kompanja, but simply complements it in a meaningful way. Therefore, it is not so much a new model as a nicely extended version of an already well-known model.
