Single beds, cross beds or longitudinal beds? Most motorhomes offer a fairly predictable sleeping solution. However, Etrusco has taken a different approach with the new CV 640 PB+ model: instead of a fixed bed in the rear, an electric lift bed drops down from the ceiling, creating space during the day for something that is often more important in everyday life than any mattress: storage space.
The new van complements the brand's Plus series and will be presented to the public for the first time at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. Instead of constantly developing new versions of fixed beds, Etrusco focuses on greater living comfort in the most compact possible floor space. While Corigon focuses on single beds in the related CV 65 S model and Weinsberg reinterprets the floor plan with the CaraLife 630 LQ, Etrusco simply changes the priorities in the existing space.
The heart of the CV 640 PB+ is located in the rear of the vehicle. There, the classic fixed bed is replaced by an electrically adjustable lifting bed. During the day, the bed is hidden under the roof, creating a surprisingly large and, above all, practical storage space. Only in the evening can the bed be lowered at the push of a button.
The key advantage: you don't have to empty the garage every evening just because the bed is being used. With a luggage compartment in the rear measuring up to 73 x 111 x 180 centimetres, the van offers an unusually large amount of space for its class. Bicycles, sports equipment or bulky camping equipment can find a permanent place here without having to play "Tetris" with the luggage every evening. To make the interior appear more spacious despite the compact external dimensions, Etrusco has equipped this model with a large "Skyview" window above the driver's cabin. The additional glazed windows bring significantly more daylight into the vehicle and create a more open feeling as soon as you enter.
The rest of the Etrusco layout also remains true to its line and relies on thoughtful improvements to details rather than radical modifications. The semi-dining area has been given a table extension, several LED spotlights can be flexibly positioned, and the Vario bathroom is designed to offer as much functionality as possible in a small space. In addition, there is a bathroom window and a wooden shower insert, which allows for sensible use of the space even outside of shower time. If you occasionally travel with more than two people, you can optionally equip the motorhome with a retractable roof section. This increases the number of sleeping places to a maximum of four. This is particularly interesting for couples who mostly travel as a couple but want to retain the option of having other passengers join them.
In terms of technical specifications, the Etrusco sticks closely to the standards of this class. The CV 640 PB+ is 6,36 metres long, 2,05 metres wide and 2,70 metres high, which puts it in the typical size of a Ducato-based motorhome and is still relatively easy to park. Standard equipment includes an 84-litre fridge with additional freezer compartment, 100 litres of fresh water, 90 litres of waste water and an electric step.
In addition, modern Fiat assistance systems are available, including traffic sign recognition, emergency braking assistance and fatigue warning, which should make everyday driving a little more relaxed. Those who want more comfort will find on the list of optional equipment, among others, an automatic transmission, diesel heating and various design packages, with which the motorhome can be targeted both visually and technically upgraded.
The CV 640 PB+ starts at 61.999 euros. Anyone looking for a similar concept will find a direct alternative in the Clever Runner Active 636: there, a manually adjustable lifting bed combines a rear garage with full travel functionality, while the Etrusco bets on an electric lifting bed and a greater emphasis on living comfort. Both models, however, deal with the same key question: where to put all the stuff when the bed is in the way?
