GP of Belgium
Formula 1 Rolex Belgian Grand Prix
BRIEF HISTORY
The first race was held back in 1925 at the racetrack, named after the town of Spa, known for its thermal springs, although it is not officially located within the city limits. Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Racecourse was built as early as 1921, but was initially used only for motorcycle racing. After 1923, due to the success of the French 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the 24 Hours of Spa was organized.
The Belgian Grand Prix is very popular with racers and spectators. Due to its location in Ardennes is a racetrack Spa-Francorchamps known for unpredictable weather. There have been as many as 20 consecutive rain races in a row in history. It is often clear on the track work while it is raining at the other end of the racetrack. Most racers today believe that the Spa is the most challenging racetrack on the Formula 1 calendar.
