Mick Schumacher - In my father's F2004

Before the qualifiers, we witnessed the enthusiasm in Hockenheim both in the stands and in the cockpit of the car. Because Mick Schumacher drove three demonstration laps in his father's Ferrari F2004 race car, with which Michael won his seventh championship title and fifth with Ferrari in 2004, and aroused the emotions of many in the stands.

“It was unique and glorious. It was a crazy feeling to drive this race car on this racetrack, to sit in my father’s cockpit. Let me add that his seat fit me perfectly. When I drove out of the pits, I only had a wide smile that didn’t end until I drove back. The smile didn’t go away even when I made a slight mistake when braking. Really crazy. ”

Mick drove two laps with his father’s Benetton B2017 race car in Spa before the 194 Grand Prix of Belgium. The difference between these two race cars is huge, so says Mick. And between F2004 and the 2019 generation, it is even bigger.

“Driving a V10 race car and feeling how it starts and how it sounds was already something special. They asked me if I could hear the fans in the stands, but the engine would be too loud. I was most annoyed when I had to drive back to the pits. I would love to do a few more laps. ” Mick will drive a few laps with his father’s F2004 tomorrow before the race as well.
