Hamilton: I’m just a human too, too

Lewis Hamilton caught a really black day in yesterday’s race for the German Grand Prix. He crossed the finish line as eleventh, although then, after a penalty for both Alfa Romeo racers, he advanced to ninth place. “It was simply a very bad day and a bad racing weekend. There is not much to say here. ”

But the race started very well for him. He led the first 29 laps and everything seemed to keep the race under control. But then he slipped in the finish line and landed in the excursion zone, crashing slightly into the guardrail and injuring the left side of the front wing. He turned into the pits, otherwise incorrectly, for which he received a penalty, but from that moment on, real chaos began for him. The current champion, however, believes that the turnaround began a little earlier. “The turnaround started when we installed dry track tires, which was done by a few other racers as well. I myself wanted to stay on the track and on the intermediates tires. But I turned the piece to change the wheels, I noticed that it started to rain harder again. Usually people have more information behind the control panel than I do. ” But because at the time, some had tires for the dry track and drove fast laps, Mercedes was under pressure.

“When they put the tires on the dry track, Leclerc flew off the track at the same time, because it started raining harder again. I don't think we took the right moment to change. " And those dry track tires were the wrong decision, because soon after, he slipped off the track himself. “Well, my close encounter with the protective fence didn’t help, nor did I switch to dry track tires. It was still raining. It was just a combination of different factors. But I'm just a man too. But I can't say more about it. It was a mistake and it's happening. " Ten laps before the end, Hamilton indulged in another pirouette on the track. But compared to his teammate, he didn’t crash into the fence.

“It was to some extent a domino effect. One pebble triggered the fall of the others. But together we win and together we lose. It just shows how quickly a racing weekend can turn in the wrong direction. But let's stick together and the boys will be working in the factory tomorrow for the next race, which we will attack again. ”

If we look back at a good five years of the hybrid period in F1, then we very rarely find such faults of Mercedes. It just shows how great the team are. “Yes, maybe. Either way, we’re just learning from that. To be honest, I don’t even know what happened today. I'm glad it's over. There are a few more races ahead of us and I’m looking forward to that. Now we have to focus on the next races and return the blow. ”
