Ross Brawn: An appropriate response to toxic criticism

After the race in France, fans on social media were furious and labeled F1 a living boredom. This was followed by races in Austria, Great Britain and Germany. Thrillers that escalated from race to race. Ross Brawn, the F1 sports chief, said this was an appropriate response to the toxic criticism.

The race for the French Grand Prix in Le Castellet, even with the help of fantasy, could not be shown in a better light, because it was a real sleeping pill. What happened after that race, however, surprised even F1 sports boss Ross Brown. “Reactions to this race have been surprisingly toxic to me. But now we have had three exciting and tense races, which was an appropriate response to these toxic criticisms. ”

“I’m not claiming everything is perfect. If I think about the fact that Daniil Kvjat in Hockenheim has achieved the first podiums for a team that is among the top three, from Baku 2018 (Perez, FI), then it just shows that the gap between the top three teams and the other seven is too big . Of course, it’s understandable that not every next race will be as exciting as the last three. But overall, we can say that F1 remains the biggest motorsport spectacle in the world. ”

“Hockenheim was really unique, the race was incredibly exciting from the first to the last lap. This race had really everything - great overtaking maneuvers, racing mistakes, failed strategies, courageous racers, accidents and finally on the winner's stage three racers, on whom we would certainly not bet before the race. In the end, we had racers from eight different teams in the top ten. ”

“Understandably, changing weather conditions have largely fueled this spectacle in Germany. It's interesting that we now had three races that were interesting for different reasons. " In Austria because of the heat, in Germany because of the rain, and in Silverstone because of the ground plan of the track, the new asphalt and the announcement by the race commissioners to put the racers on a slightly longer rope.

Brawn adds: “Max has now won two races out of the last three. In Germany, I noticed only two mistakes with him. It was a bad start where he fell to fourth place, and then another pirouette somewhere in the middle of the race. But just like in Austria, he showed that he was not burdened with pitch and preferred to focus on his task and is a masterful seventh win of his career. With that win, he came close to Bottas in second place. Wouldn’t it be great if he managed to squeeze in between both Mercedes racers? When Mercedes was almost untouchable in the first part of the season. ”
