A young man from Maribor behind the wheel of a McLarn race car

Kevin Siggy Rebernak, a 21-year-old from Maribor, won the McLarn virtual racing series Shadow Project.

Kevin Siggy Rebernak, 21 years old, at home from Maribor, who is otherwise studying in Amsterdam, is in the finals of the competition, which took place at McLaren's headquarters in England Woking, defeated the other five finalists, and with the win secured work on McLarn 's simulation team next year.

Among the finalists was also 33-year-old paraplegic Jan Saathof, who competed in a custom simulator.

The finalists competed in six racing challenges - four in the simulator and two in the real McLarn 570S GT4 on the racetrack in Dunsfold. Kevin excelled both on the simulator and on the track - the instructors praised his driving style, especially impressed by the fact that Ribeye managed to further improve the time in each round.

It is after success Maribor said: “I’m thrilled to have won the McLaren Shadow Project Grand Final. I have been competing in the simulator since I was thirteen, but I never dreamed that I would be able to get to this point. The whole week was an experience I will never forget. I hope that this victory will be a springboard for my further career in sports. I can't wait to work with McLarn next season. ”

Zak Brown, the first man of McLarn 's racing work, sees the simulations as a major contribution to team result in F1, but at the same time he believes that the athletes will soon be at the top of the real racing series: “The transfer of skills and knowledge that competitors use in virtual racing into a real car is the essence of this competition. At McLarn, we believe that sport is a fertile ground that needs to be protected and observed, as it succeeds competitors who will one day be able to sit behind the wheel of a real car.. "
