It was the last race in which a powertrain racing car Cosworth DFV, with whom they have competed since 1967, won the pole position. That was it Keke rosberg, Finnish racer Williams, who also started the race from the first starting position, but soon overtook him Nelson Piquet v Brabham and in the end also celebrated the victory. That was it, too last pole position for a car with an atmospheric engine all until 1989.
At the same time, it was a race on which no one else was. The year before they were at Brabham started refueling in the middle of the race, as the lighter cars were significantly faster during the race, and the other teams soon followed, so in the middle of the race Rosberg turned into the pits, where he was refueled for the first time this season, with a minor fire.
When they turned it off, Keke jumped back to the car, drove a great race and ended up as second. The only problem was that when he came out of the pits with pushing helped mechanics, which was against the rules, so he was simply disqualified by the FIA.
All in all, it was anything but good news for Rosbergby GP of Brazil disqualified from second place the year before. When they Niki Lauda in Jacques laffite already thought they had won second and third place, Alain Prost but a point, the FIA announced for reasons known only to it that the second place remains empty, which is a unique event in the history of Formula 1.
The Commissioners made another weird decision that racing weekend, as they are Andrea de Cesaris, who missed the weigh-in, was simply excluded from qualifying and the race itself.
