RUSSELL about his future at MERCEDES: It’s not in my hands

Young Mercedes racer George Russell has a valid contract with the Williams team for the 2021 season. The Briton talks about his prospects of joining the world champion team and emphasizes: "My future is not in my hands."

Although he has George Russell already contract with Williams for the 2021 season, his management is in regular contact with Mercedes.

"Contact is present, there is an exchange of opinions almost every day. I know myself what we need to do and it’s a great race on the track. I have a valid contract with Williams, which is why it also depends on Claire what my future will look like. This will be seen in the coming weeks and months," so Russell. That the door is at Renault for the 2021 season after confirmation of arrival Alonso closed, this does not bother the young Briton. “I am very happy about that, because in Formula 1 the best racers in the world should compete and he is without a doubt one of the best. There are some critical voices saying he is taking the seat of a young racer. But as it is now, it makes sense for Renault and Alonso and I believe that when he returns he will do a great job."

The young Mercedes racer, who currently serves on the Williams team, said his future is not in his hands.

"I have a contract with Williams for next season and I am a young Mercedes racer. I don’t think Claire would let me go anywhere else - except maybe in a Mercedes. And if this possibility were to emerge, it would not be certain. That being said, it’s not in my hands, but hers. I will focus on my work and see what I can do,He added Russell, which is in view other races season said: “I thought we would be stronger in the first race and the qualifiers would be weaker. But it used to be the other way around. I think progress in Q2 is possible and that is also our goal."
