FRANZ TOST and PATRICK FRIESACHER with ideas for a better FORMULA 1

Franz Tost, head of the AlphaTauri team, and former Formula 1 racer Patrick Friesacher talked about ideas for a better Formula 7 on ServusTV's "Sport und Talk" from hangar 1.

In the form they showed in the race Hungarian GP, they will Lewis Hamilton and team Mercedes won another title. “These are very dominant. Of course, other teams are also looking for solutions to their problems, but this is a very difficult job. Also Red Bull is having problems at the moment”Is for ServusTV said the former Formula 1 racer Patrick Friesacher.

Regarding the form of the other Red Bullthese teams Alpha Tauri, but is a former racer Minardia said: “Daniil Kvjat and Pierre Gasly have developed very well, they show self-confidence and it is nice to watch. It’s hard to overtake at the Hungaroring, otherwise Kvyat could land among the points winners.”On the tension in Formulas 1 and the differences, the Austrian added: “In the end, people in front of TVs don't care whether the car is a second faster or slower, the main thing is that a good sport is offered."

Patrick Friesacher (left), a former Formula 1 racer, believes that people in front of TVs don’t care whether a car is a second faster or slower if the sport is good and interesting.

Friesacher is to another guest, Franz Tost, team boss Alpha Tauri, addressed the question: "What about standardized wings or the bottom of a race car, for example?" Tost went even further in his answer: “The Racing Point team at the time is showing that it might be better if they could buy entire race cars. But this is not for purists who want to see development. Against Mercedes, Ferrari or even Red Bullu no chance as these teams have set up such good structures so you are always behind. I hope this will change with the new 2022 policy. Formula 1 is fun, people want to see duels. People don’t want to see Hamilton afford an extra stop in the race because he already has such an advantage."

Franz Tost, head of the AlphaTauri team, however, believes that it is no longer appropriate for each team to have its own R&D department, yet it cannot get close to the top.

Tost looks briefly at the past: "As a visionary, Dietrich Mateschitz said that we want to use synergies and train young racers in the AlphaTauri team, formerly Toro Rosso. Only under these conditions did he then buy the former Minardi team. But after our 2008 victory at Monza, a typical Formula One team of enviers showed up. Then each team had to make their own race car. At the time, we only had a different engine in the car than Red Bull. Racing Point has now done something similar. It is no longer appropriate for each team to have its own research and development department. Still, they can’t come close to the best."
