VN BELGIUM, race: Statements of the best THREE RACERS

Nothing new could be said in Belgium. Lewis Hamilton already has 89 wins, just two more away from Michael Schumacher.

His rivals were no match for him again and so on British unstoppably rushing to the seventh title of champion. It will be here too Hamilton equated with Schumacher and took the throne of the absolute most successful racer in history Formula 1.

Valtteri Bottas, to a teammate Hamilton at the team Mercedes, it has probably already become clear that this year there will be nothing from the fight for the title of champion, regardless of the version in which he is performing (this year it is supposed to be 3.0, op.p.). Maybe we were counting on something more Max Verstappen, but Dutchman there was nothing he could do this time and had to settle for the lowest step today.

Statements of the first three races for the Belgian GP

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - first place"It was not the easiest race. I braked too hard in the fifth turn, which caused me to have vibrations afterwards. Then again in the last chicane in front of the finish line, which only made the situation more difficult for me. The less rubber there was, the more the temperature dropped, so it was a real fight. I was nervous about the damage to the tires from Silverstone and I was worried about the right front tire. Then I drove the car to the finish line like on ice. I looked at this tire at Parc Ferme and it didn’t show the best picture. I know there are people who don’t want to see us win all the time. We’re always focused, and after talking to the engineers in the pits, I don’t come across an exaggerated celebration, but they all break their heads over what we can get out of this race and benefit from the next one. And that’s exactly what sets us apart from the rest, it’s truly unique. Many thanks to all the people here on the track and those at home in our factories."

Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes - second place: "If you’re leading the race, you have the advantage of not driving in turbulence. This is good for cooling and for tires. Overall, our race car was fast, again achieving an ideal team result. At first it looked good after the start, but since Lewis didn’t come out of the turn clean, I got too close to him and had to slow down. But then I was surprised that the breeze had no effect. Maybe the wind has turned because the breeze on that plane is very strong. Even the flying start after the safety car had no effect. I’ve also had brake problems and this has been happening to me for a few races. Lewis drove a flawless race. I had a racing weekend with no incidents, that’s good, but I’m missing the wins. I am happy that we will be driving in Monza next weekend. Of course, I don’t like it not going better, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give up."

MaxVerstappen, Red Bull - third place: "It was boring, I didn’t have much to do. I couldn’t keep up with the Mercedes, and towards the end of the race the tires gave way, so I only dealt with them. For the last eight laps, I’ve only been concerned with keeping a close eye on the front right tire. It was definitely not fun. We started the race on a medium mix, which is why I didn’t have such a good grip. I was able to put some pressure on Valtteri on the hard mix, but then he moved away without a hitch. Today they were simply faster and to the point. I didn’t risk anything because of that. In today’s race, third place was the most we could achieve, so we have to be happy. At Monza we will try again with our luck."
