McLAREN expects FERRARI to strike back after MONZA

Andreas Seidl, head of the McLaren team, sees the race for the Italian Grand Prix as a great opportunity to increase his advantage over Ferrari, as he believes the Scuderia will return the blow on the tracks that better suit their race car.

Za Ferrari is a miserable race GP of Belgium v Spa-Francorchamps, as it is on the track where required engine power, showed how bad their car is at the moment.

Andreas Seidl suspects that their competitors will be from Maranella had problems again this weekend because also in Monza powertrain power is required and this could be an opportunity for McLarento catch a good reading of points. “I would say that from what we saw this weekend, we are in a good position to qualify for the third part of the qualifiers and to fight for good points in the race. I expect it to be close again with Racing Point and Renault. So we hope that Monza will give us a chance to collect more points than in Spa compared to the rivals who will be stronger again on other tracks."

McLaren after the race in Belgium climbed to third place among the teams, two points ahead Racing Point and seven before Ferrari. But Seidl he says that despite a poor racing weekend Ferrari, teams from Maranello will not be underestimated. “It’s also important what we never do anyway, to underestimate the capabilities of Ferrari, which can strike back later in the season. With all the experience they have, with the professionals and the infrastructure, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before they hit back. Therefore, the fact that we did not collect more points in Belgium hurts even more."
