FERRARI will not choose a driver for a place in the ALFA ROMEO team only on the basis of RESULTS in Formula 2

There are three Ferrari juniors in the game for the title of Formula 2 champion. Mattia Binotto emphasizes that in advancing in F1, they will not only look at the results they will achieve in Formula 2.

Unlike the situation in Formula 1 it is Ferrari offspring v Formulas 2 extremely moody, as there are as many as three representatives Ferrari Academy serious candidates to win the title. Callum ilott leads the table with 149 points, six points ahead Mick Schumacher, Robert Schwartzman however, he is third with 140 points.

All three have also already stepped on the top step. ilott in Schwartzman each three times while Schumacher v Monza won Saturday’s main race for the first time this season. Regardless of everything but also a potential champion in Formulas 2 he can't count on him being the one to get a chance in the team's race car Alfa Romeo next season.

“This year we have a great lineup in Formula 2. We have three drivers vying for the title, Robert Shwartzman, Callum Ilott and Mick. I think they are doing very well at the moment. They have shown great progress compared to last season, ” is satisfied with the youth drive Mattia binotto.

“For Robert, this is the first season in Formula 2 and it’s usually harder when you’re a rookie. I think he is doing very well as a newcomer. Callum and Mick are also showing great performances, but for the success of this season, it will be important how they will spend the second part of the season, ” says the team boss from Maranella.

Shwartzman and Schumacher are the main candidates for a spot in Alfa Romeo’s race car next season. In the F1 championship, he is currently showing the best to Callum Ilott.

“The result they will achieve is just one of the factors that will help us choose a racer for Alfa Romeo. It will also count how the racers will develop, ” he adds binotto.

Former Formula 1 driver Vitaly Petrov, is of the opinion that at Ferrari have to decide soon who will be put in the Alfin race car and warns the team from Maranello that for his compatriot there is tremendous interest: "Robert is one of the best in Formula 2 and his excellent performances, despite being a newcomer, show that he is an exceptional talent that other teams are already looking after."

Petrov is also aware of the main threats to Schwartzman’s career in Formula 1, Mick Schumacher: “If Schumacher celebrates in the championship, then there is no doubt who will drive for Alfa Romeo next year. In case Robert wins and Mick is second, I'm not entirely sure if the winner of the competition will really get a chance in F1. "
