The WMSC approved the COPY ban and the new CONCORDE agreement

The FIA ​​Council (VMSC) has blessed two important Formula 1 topics: the No Copy Rule and the new Concorde Agreement. The path to a great license was also facilitated.

FIA Council at its third meeting this year, it finally blessed the consensus Formula 1 Commission regarding changes to the technical regulations in terms of copying rules for the 2021 season VMSC also confirmed the new agreement Concord and thirdly, due to the coronavirus crisis, took an even easier path in awarding super license.

For the summer 2021 confirmation is particularly important prohibition of excessive reverse engineering in Formula 1. Teams will not be allowed to copy rival cars only on the basis of photos with use surface analysis and with help software. It is also forbidden stereo photogrammetry and use 3D cameras.

The Racing Point team raised the most dust this year with their alleged copy of last year’s Mercedes. The loudest protesters against doing so were at Renault.

These new rules were adopted after much excitement around the race car RP20 teams Racing Point during this season. Several teams filed initially protest against the team, as the car was very reminiscent of last year's Mercedes. The last ones were the most controversial brake channels, which resulted in the team also being penalized. In the end, everyone withdrew the protests when it did FIA initiated changes in this regard.

The background, of course, lies in the coronavirus crisis. The FIA ​​wants to ensure that racers are due force majeure and circumstances they would not fall into a subordinate position.

At the initiative of the FIA, the WMSC has also taken the easy way of granting a super license to young racers, who can get a Formula 1 driver's license even if they have not yet collected the required 40 points.

You are for this purpose FIA reserves the right to grant a super license in individual cases to racers who, despite the new rules, have not yet collected the required 40 points. But they must have them at least 30and, on top of that, the racer must prove exceptional abilities in the lower series of formulas.
