HAMILTON isn’t sure if he wants to race at MERCEDES for another three years

Lewis Hamilton says he has not yet decided how long he intends to commit to Mercedes and because of that he may not sign a new contract for a few more months.

Hamilton is on his way to winning his seventh championship title, but at the moment has yet to agree on a contract extension that expires at the end of the year. His teammate Valtteri Bottas already has a valid contract with Mercedes for the 2021 season. The Hamiltons the first two contracts were three years, in 2018 he signed a two-year contract, and now he is weighing on how long he should be bound this time.

British said negotiations with Toto Wolff should take into account the long - term plans of him and Formula 1 and that they will when Mercedes started, different from the previous ones. “When we sit down, we usually plan for a period of three years. Of course, we are in different times now. Do I want to continue for three years? This is also a question and there are many questions that still need to be answered. In the 2022 season, we also get new race cars. I’m definitely excited about what could happen in 2022 given what race cars look like."

Lewis Hamilton points out that until he has the 2020 season title in his pocket, he won’t talk about his future, but he wonders whether he should be tied to Mercedes for three years or not.

Hamilton he says he doesn’t know if extending his contract is as simple as a formality, but until the season title is secured 2022, will not think about future issues. “I think we’re going to have to sit down at a table and talk at some stage, but that’s not a priority right now. Doing this year's work is my first priority and I am focused on that." British he made it clear that he was not interested in racing anywhere else but at Mercedes. "I don’t talk to anyone and I don’t intend to either. At some point, Toto and I will sit down at a table and work out our common path forward." Hamilton, which is supposed to Mercedes per year received $ 40 million, acknowledged that the car industry has been hit hard recently, but added that Mercedes returns to a stable state.
