Davide BRIVIO: Joan PEACE is something SPECIAL

Suzuki team leader Davide Brivio described the historic moment when Joan Mir was crowned MotoGP world champion in Valencia. Sam wishes to see the number 202 on the Suzuki GSX-RR in 1.

When it's Joan mir on Sunday after twenty-seven laps in Valencia he crossed the finish line in seventh place, he 23-year-old Spaniard crown v MotoGP already secured the race before the end of the championship. That's it Suzuki brought the first title in the royal class of the World Motorcycle Championship after Kenny Roberts Jr. in 2000.

Team leader Suzuki Ecstar, Davide Brivio remembers this historic moment with a smile on his face: “It was actually very strange. I have been dreaming of this moment for many years since I started working for Suzuki. Maybe it was tension, but when Joan crossed the finish line, I felt kind of empty and I thought; 'What should I do now?' I didn't even have the strength to rejoice, I was numb for a few seconds. Then everyone hugged and I relaxed too. I admit, though, that I was weird. I'm still thinking about all this, ” he added Brivio.

It's hours later, too Italian still looking for the right words: “Well, what can I say. It was historic, of course. We did something extraordinary. Even if I were a filmmaker, a screenwriter, I wouldn’t be able to write this story so well. He wins MotoGP to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Suzuki, 20 years after the last title and the 60th anniversary of racing. Winning in such a difficult year and such a special season… We have achieved something historic, something we did not even dare to dream of before the season. ”

Davide Brivio wants Mir to race next season with one on the nose of his Suzuki, but in the end it depends mainly on the Spaniard himself.

Brivio at the moment of victory he remembered the team: “I am happy for all of us. For everyone involved in the project. We started from scratch a few years ago. Then came the people who embarked on the project with a lot of passion. People, most of whom haven’t won yet, so they worked even harder and were even more hungry for success. The biggest part of the success, of course, goes to the drivers: Joan was amazing - I think we have someone really special in front of us. Alex also did an amazing job. Especially considering he got hurt and if he hadn’t made a few mistakes, he could be where Joan is today. I think this season shows that we have been competitive with both drivers. Joan was more constant. He placed on the podium several times and may have made some mistakes less and therefore won the title. We are very proud of what we have achieved. ”

The first man of the team Suzuki ecstar he wants to be Mir next year raced with the number 1 on the nose of his Suzuki GSX-RR: "It simply came to our notice then. It would be nice, but I don't know, ” Brivio doubts about the possibilities of making his wishes come true: “This is the driver's decision, because in this modern age, the number is also a logo, it is also a brand on which business also depends. I would like one, but it all depends on Joan. ”
