Lewis HAMILTON: If I had stayed at McLARN, I would still have only ONE TITLE

The move from McLaren to Mercedes was a very risky maneuver for the Briton, but Lewis Hamilton is confident that if he had stayed at McLarn, he would still have only one world title under his belt.

It’s already in its first Formula 1 season in 2007 Lewis Hamilton almost missed his first title. Z McLarn namely, he became a runner-up, for Kimi Räikkönen, who became the champion, was only nine points behind. The following year, he also registered his own first title.

And in doing so, it would very likely also remain so if I did not switch to Mercedes, he admits Hamilton: “If I had stayed, I wouldn’t have won any more titles. After fourteen years in Formula 1, I would still be a single-title racer. ”

Hamilton came into Formula 1 as a product McLarn Youth Drive: “Since I was thirteen, I’ve been at McLarn, which was like my extended family, where I felt at home because they took good care of me,” said in an interview with Crowdstrike.

Lewis Hamilton came to Formula 1 as a product of McLarn’s youth drive. The Briton is confident he would still have only one world title if he stayed with his first F1 employer.

But given the extraordinary McLaren team history in Formula 1, with many championships won, Hamilton felt "That he won't be able to help build something new at McLarn," as the seven-time world champion explained in an interview. "It was already a really famous team that could boast of many successes."

Hamilton says he always wanted to be part of the team, "Where I could contribute a lot on the path to success." That's why she did end of 2012 decided to switch to Mercedes: “When I came to the team, it still had a rather empty display case with laurels, but it was clear that it was a team with high ambitions, so I said to myself - I am going somewhere where I can use everything I have learned from McLarn to help grow the team. ”

Niki Lauda was the key factor that led Hamilton to eventually sign for Mercedes.

The transition brought with it quite a lot of risk, which the current seven-time world champion also knew, but was willing to accept: "Of course, I often said to myself at the beginning - wow, when will I be able to win again, but on the other hand, I always followed the example of Ayrton Senna, who always claimed that a risk-free life is actually a split."

K transfer the lion’s share was contributed by the then head of the Mercedes team Ross Brawn in Niki Lauda: “They believed in me and I felt that too. I owe a lot to people like Niki to rest in peace, and Ross. Thanks also to Mercedes for believing in me, ” is grateful to his team Hamilton.
