ALLISON is leaving the position of TECHNICAL DIRECTOR of the MERCEDES team!

James Allison, who has held the position of technical director of the Mercedes team since 2017, will take on a second role in the Serial Champions team from 1 July onwards.

At first glance, it would be news sensational and could be labeled as big Bang in the team Mercedes. But this is not the case. Allison will occupy new feature the Chief Technical Officer. He will take over his role in the Silver Arrows team Mike Elliott.

"Allison will focus his energy on enabling the team to meet the strategic challenges of the next sporting era,”Reads v Mercedes press release. “James will continue to work closely with the technical management of Brackley and Brixworth as technical director to ensure that the team will always have the appropriate skills to perfect their needs."

At the same time, it will Mike Elliott promoted to the role of technical director of the team Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1. "After starting his career at McLaren in 2000 and later working for the Renault F1 team, Mike joined Mercedes in 2012 as head of the aerodynamics department and was instrumental in the development of the team in the following years. He has been the technical director of the team since 2017 and has played a key role in developing the team’s capabilities as part of our senior technical management. The transition to the new organization will take place in the coming months as we continue to fight for the title of champion this season and prepare for an important challenge under the new rules in 2022,”They wrote at Mercedes.
