Damon Hill is to blame for his enthusiasm for Lewis Hamilton. But with all due respect to Hamilton’s abilities and huge successes, he is a star Mercedesa occasionally caused in his countryman confusing, as was the case on US GP in Austin.

Also for Hilla was criminal Austin a real treat of Formula 1, and after a close defeat Hamilton against the championship leader Max Verstappn, is a 1996 podcast world champion F1Nation said: “Taken as a whole, this was a remarkable race as she was on the knife all the time. As far as radio communication is concerned, a considerable trick is often involved in the game." Hill relates here to the situation we are with Lewis Hamilton already experienced many times. For example, when in a race complains over their own tires, and then easily finds a higher speed. Are such statements only tacticsto take a competitor to virtual security or perhaps even lured him into strategic error?

Despite his enthusiasm for his compatriot Lewis Hamilton, Damon Hill is amazed at his statements on the radio, which was again the case at the last US Grand Prix race in Austin.

Damon Hill he’s not so sure about that, at least not when it comes to racing US GP. For he himself says: “When Lewis was in the lead in Texas, he said on the radio, 'I can't keep up that pace.' Why does he say that? It immediately occurred to me, isn’t he revealing his cards unnecessarily? Shortly afterwards, Max also spoke up and said on the radio, 'I can see him gliding down the track.' Then the Dutchman turned into the pits for fresh tires and as it turned out, he did Red Bull this time tricked by Mercedes."

But it was not clear until the finish line whether he would be in favor Max Verstappen also came out. Damon Hill says: “It was really tight and uncertain, as there was always the possibility that Lewis would get close enough to allow him to use DRS. Then he ran out of time, probably also because his tires were no longer in the best condition. But there was tension in the air, almost at hand. What made me especially happy was the fact that the viewers audibly responded to the changes and that they clearly understood what it was all about. They understood the strategic battle that was taking place and appreciated the role of both racers."
