Formula 1 has experienced one of the darkest days last year GP of Belgium. After three hours of waiting, drivers were instructed to drive two laps behind the safety car onlythat can be announce the official result of the race.
In a statement after the meeting Formula 1 Commission it was revealed that for future races no points will be awarded unless the leader completes at least two rounds without intervention safety car and / or virtual safety car.
After done two recognized racing laps, but in case it is achieved less than 25% distance of the race, the first five ranked drivers will receive points according to the following system. The winner gets 6 points, the second ranked 4 points, with a further reduction of points to the fifth ranked, who gets 1 point.
If he drives away 25% of the race distance, however less than 50%, the following point system will be used. 13 points for 1st place, 10 points for 2nd place, 8 points for 3rd place, 6 points for 4th place and one point less to the ninth place winner who will get 1 point.
For races where it will take off more than 50% in less than 75% rounds, the number of points won increases again. 19 points for 1st place, 14 points for 2nd place, 12 points for 3rd place, 9 points for 4th place, 8 points for 5th place, 6 points for 6th place, 5 points for 7th place, 3 points for 8th place, 2 points for 9th and 1 point for 10th place.
For all that is more than 75%, the full number of points is awarded.
FIA World Motor Sport Council these changes have yet to be formally confirmed, but this is a mere formality.
