Racecourse Autodromo Internazionale Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola will host Formula 1 races at least until the 2025 season, after being with commercial rights holders on Monday Liberty Medium signed a new contract.
San Marino Racecourse returned to the Formula 1 racing calendar in the 2020 season, thanks to the covid-19 pandemic and received a very positive reception among spectators, also thanks to memories of the old days when the track hosted the 1980 race for GP of Italy, from 1981 to 2006 GP San Marino.
Because of popularity the interim solution has become a constant under the name VN Emilija Romanje, and this year she got more three-year extension, ie up to and including the 2025 season.
Organizers are supposed to pay around to run each race 23 million, and is included in the contract clause after which the fee reduced to 10 million, if due to the coronavirus any of the races should be performed without spectators.
"I am very pleased with the deal with Liberty Media," he said Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President Automobile Club Italia. "It's a complicated contract, as we as a public institution have concluded it with a private one, Formula 1. But the most important thing is that we have confirmed the races until 2025."
He is also happy about the contract extension Stefano domenicali, director of Formula 1. “I am delighted to continue our excellent collaboration with Imola and the Emilia Pilgrimage Grand Prix until 2025. The racetrack is iconic and part of the history of our sport, and they did a great job hosting two pandemic races. For the Italians, this is a very proud moment, as we will have two home trials on the race calendar, and spectators around the world will continue to watch the races on this fantastic track. ”
Some money for the races will be contributed by the Italian government, and part province of Emilia Romagna, after which the races will be named.
