MAZDA MX-5: In 2023 with new colors and models for EUROPE

With more choice and more equipment, Mazda tackles its MX-5 model for the 2023 model year. The rarely-selected automatic transmission also returns.

It's all about keeping it fresh cult roadster in his eighth year. Current model ND he should be with the fans for a while longer, as he is a successor, a model NE, still in the early stages of development, as shown by photos of the captured masked prototype, which is expected to hit the roads in 2024.

Changes to the current model do not affect the full timeless design, but to the details. In the future, a light two-seater with rear-wheel drive will be available as roadster with a canvas roof and as a version with a hard top RF in three equipment lines instead of two. Namely, a new sports premium version is included Homura. In addition, there are two new special models here Kazari in Kizuna.

The successor to the current MX-5 model is coming in 2024

Even in the 2023 model year they have Mazda MX-5 in Mazda MX-5 RF under the hood, a choice of two "wound" four-cylinder engines Skyactiv-G with a volume of 1,5 and 2,0 liters and power 132 BAM (Skyactiv-G 132) and 184 BAM (Skyactiv-G 184). At the same time, the Mazda MX-5 RF Skyactiv-G 184 model is now also available as a special model with six-speed automatic transmission. The changes are complemented by a new exterior color Zircon Sans Metallic.

Mazda has given the MX-2023 a revised interior for the 5 model year, and an automatic transmission will also be available, which is unusual for this car.

But MX-5 no longer a cheap bargain. The now expanded three-level equipment structure offers buyers a choice between the entry-level version Prime Line (from 30.990 euros), medium version Exclusive Line (from 33.990 euros) and new top models Homura (from 36.390 euros). The latter has sporty details such as sports seats Recaro and black exterior mirror caps, and in conjunction with Skyactiv-G 184 is also equipped with a brake system Brembo on the front axle, including red colored brake calipers, shock absorbers Bilstein and light 17-inch rims BBS.

The version with a weaker gasoline engine sits on the brand's 16-inch aluminum wheels rays. All Mazda MX-5 equipment lines also feature a limited-slip differential lock on the rear axle. In the Exclusive-Line and Homura equipment lines, the canvas and hardtop roadster can be optionally upgraded with a package Driver Assistance. This includes Advanced City Emergency Brake Assist, which detects vehicles and pedestrians in front of the car and activates if necessary automatic braking, a system of adaptive matrix LED lights, recognition of traffic signs and detection of driver drowsiness.

They also offer new color combinations for the exterior.

For even more choice, they provide two new ones special versions with special color combinations based on the Exclusive-Line equipment line and also equipped as standard with the Driver Assistance package. Special model Kazari (from 35.490 euros) has inside terracotta hood leather and a tan cloth top or black hardtop for the MX-5 RF. The Kizuna model (from 34.490 euros) has it inside white nappa leather, a blue fabric roof (for the roadster), and the hardtop is also here in black.
