Volkswagen with the ID.4 and ID.5, it already has two in its offer electric SUVs, we should still connect three new ones. In addition to the SUV version ID.2 and electrical Tiguan here is a new flagship in the form of an SUV, as reported by colleagues from Coach. Their article contains nothing sensational, but offers an interesting collection of plans from the VW boss by Thomas Schäfer. Its model strategy envisages three new electric SUVs that will join the established models.

ID.4 and ID.5 this year with a 210 kW rear engine?

According to the report, the model VW ID.4 and ID.5 received more powerful electric drives this year. Otherwise, the journalist Greg Kable he doesn't go into details right away, but it could be a new rear drive z 210 kW, which premieres in a sedan ID.7. The four-wheel drive version that was recently introduced in the model is also likely to be based on this cupra tavascan.

The VW ID.4 and its cousin, the ID.5, are expected to get a new, more powerful electric drive, and next year they will receive another renovation.

System four-wheel drive in addition to the new engine with a power of 210 kW, it also includes the familiar electric front axle from Magne with power 80 kW. System power with battery is limited to 250 kW. The new drives will follow in 2024 renovation of both models and an improved infotainment system. The new one should also belong here 15,4-inch screen by touch, as in the renewed ID.3 model.

Electric Tiguan from 2025

Let's go back to the new electric SUVs. As stated in the article, it should appear first electric Tiguan, which has been talked about for a long time. It should have a more traditional design than ID.4 and ID.5, but he was supposed to arrive in 2025. There will be a choice of rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, as well as a variant with five and seven seats. It is said to be based on a further developed modular electric platform MEB+.

This is what the new electric Tiguan coming in 2025 could look like.

This one offers greater charging power in greater range. In addition, a new cell unit is used here, which the VW Group wants to introduce from 2025. Tiguan powered by fossil fuels measures 4,51 meters and is therefore in the same class as the ID.4 and ID.5, but should be offered side by side with them. The car should be manufactured in Wolfsburg, because Schäfer has already announced a new “volume model in the SUV segment” for their main factory.

In 2026, the new ID.2 X with a range of 420 kilometers

After the introduction of the electric Tiguan, VW is planning entry level SUV as an electric alternative to the model VW T-Cross. It could be called a car ID.2 X, and the technology will be similar to the basic SUV model Damage, serial versions Copper UrbanRebel in VW ID.2all. The car was supposed to come on the market in 2026.

The ID.2026 X is expected to arrive in 2 as an electric counterweight to the T-Cross model.

The technical basis will be shortened version of the MEB platform, and only front-wheel drive vehicles will be on offer. As an energy store, they should offer batteries with 38 and 56 kWh, with which the ID.2 X could have a range of 290 to 420 kilometers. Low-cost unit cells are likely to be used here LFP chemistry. These battery cells are likely to come from the concern's new cell factory in Sagunt, and the vehicles themselves will be manufactured nearby Barcelona.

The flagship based on the Scalable Systems Platform

The third new electric SUV is the flagship of the platform-based brand Scalable Systems Platform SSP. It should be placed between the Tiguan and the Touareg and should therefore be a long in-between 4,50 and 4,90 meters. The model could also replace the 4,88 meter long one ID.6, which is only available on China and offers up to seven seats. The market launch is planned for the year 2028.

In 2028, however, VW is expected to launch its flagship among electric SUVs, which is said to be inspired by the Trinity project.

As with current models MEB rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be available. Furthermore SSP platform supports 800 volt systems and thus enables particularly fast charging. Prismatic unit cells are used as battery cells, with chemistry LFP for basic models and chemistry NMC for more expensive versions. The Admiral SUV is similar to the electric sedan designed by Schäfer's predecessor Ralf Brandstatter with the project name Trinity, which is based on the SSP platform.
