Is this possible? The new Toyota GR Yaris could cost more than 100.000 euros in France

The Toyota GR Yaris may indeed be a small car, but it has carbon dioxide emissions like much larger cars, meaning a hefty tax outlay for French buyers.

GR Toyota Yaris is one of the most exciting "hot hatches" of our time. With its capabilities that are truly outstanding, it is a compelling choice for the right ones car enthusiasts. But if you're French, the appeal of this hatchback must be extremely compelling to justify a six-figure purchase.

V France buyers will not only have to fight for limited quantities of the latest, facelifted GR Yaris, but will also have to shell out a hefty chunk of money for it. French Government Scale the emissions tax means that some versions of the car will actually have a six-figure price tag.

An insanely high sum starts with an already high sum recommended price GR Yaris. In France, the price of the rally-inspired model with a manual transmission starts at EUR 46.300, while the new version with an automatic transmission rises to 48.800 EUR.

Although this is already a lot for the car the size of a Toyota Yaris, even if it were a hand-built rally special, this is just the beginning. Due to the high-performance engine of the GR version, examples equipped with a manual gearbox are omitted 190 grams of CO2 per kilometer, and examples with automatic transmission 210 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.

This ranks the model GR Racing into the highest French CO2 tax brackets. As first spotted by Caradisiac, this means that French buyers opting for the GR Yaris with a manual transmission will have to pay additional EUR 45.990. Those who opt for the automatic transmission version will pay the highest possible amount, EUR 60.000.

Spokesman Toyota France explained to the media that the data on the emissions they published were incomplete (they only wanted to start pre-sales by publishing them), and the official data will only be confirmed in June. The company stated that, in its opinion, these figures represent "the worst possible" scenario for the car, but it is also at the same time realistic possibility.

Although the number of grams of CO2 per kilometer emitted by the car should not differ so much from the original data, the tax bill for GR Yaris buyers changed. Previously, the French government limited this amount to half the value of the car, but as of January 1, 2024, this no longer applies, which is bad news for enthusiasts small powerful hatchbacks.

Despite the high tax, the company will offer on the French market 300 GR Yaris. That allotment suggests he thinks that number should satisfy demand, despite the price more than doubling to €92.290 for the manual model and 108.800 EUR for the model with automatic transmission.

Although we at VMax.si are undoubtedly GR Yaris fans, but this is an awful lot of money for a car that is special, but still a representative of the B segment. However, we are interested - would you be willing to invest so much money in GR Yaris, no matter how impressive it is?
