Günther Steiner: Hülkenberg is interesting

Will Nico Hülkenberg stay at Renault after the end of the 2019 season? Lately, he has been under fire from critics of the top floor. In case of departure, however, he could find refuge with the Haas team.

Renault's starting point for the 2020 season is as follows: Daniel Ricciardo has a valid contract and Nico Hülkenberg does not. The German would like to continue working with the French manufacturer because he is convinced that Renault can intervene among the best teams. But judging by the latest criticism from team boss Cyril Abiteboul, it could happen that next year he will no longer be sitting in the yellow car, which we have already reported.

In the event of leaving the Renault team, however, the popular Hulk could find refuge with the Haas team, as team boss Günther Steiner said Nico was definitely interesting to them. The South Tyrolean, however, is also aware that his current racers are like Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean like gunpowder and fire. They both manage to stage close encounters on the track over and over again. As can be heard, Grosjean is in the greatest danger. Steiner said at the Hungaroring that the duo will race until the end of the season. And then?

Steiner adds: “We’ve always pointed out that we’re going to deal with the thought of racers for next season first during the summer break. And nothing has changed. The race market is short of air at the moment, but negotiations in the background are going smoothly. Esteban Ocon, for example, is a very good racer, but it is not in our interest to be a parking racer for one season. We will look at all the possibilities in peace. But I can say that Nico Hülkenberg is definitely interesting for us. ”
