The IndyCar series has confirmed talks with FERRARI for entry into 2022

Roger Penske, owner of the NTT IndyCar series, confirms that he has held preliminary talks with Ferrari about joining them in the 2022 season.

Ferrari mentioned earlier that they are looking at possible connections to the American series IndyCar, which would be due to acceptance budget ceilings avoid extensive dismissal of employees in the team.

They are currently Honda in Chevrolet the only two manufacturers in the series, and since years 2012 left Lotus, Yippee Penske said their main goal was to bring another manufacturer into the series. “We try to attract new manufacturers to our sport," he confirmed Penske. "Ferrari had already shown public interest before and so we sat down at the table and talked. For IndyCar, Ferrari would be a great acquisition."

Mattia Binotto, head of the Ferrari team, also confirmed talks with those in charge of the IndyCar series. The Scuderia does not want to be separated from its employees due to the introduction of the budget ceiling, so it could be "used" in the American racing series.

When he had spoken before about wanting to join the series IndyCar, Yippee Mattia binotto, team boss Ferrari, said: “Ferrari feels a great deal of social responsibility towards its employees. We want to make sure that we provide a job for each of them in the future. To this end, we began evaluating alternative programs. I confirm that we are looking at the IndyCar series, which is a very different series at the moment, but with a change in the rules for 2022."
