Audi reveals: No more box commands!

Audi manager at DTM Dieter Gass revealed that at the request of Gerhard Berger, all orders from the pits were revoked.

It has happened many times in the past that the results of races and not just in DTM, determined team commands from the pits. This was not just about the classic change of places, but also about non-attacking agreements or giving more space when overtaking. And that's exactly why Gerhard berger decided to cancel the agreements, pacts, orders of the teams and leave the racetrack to the racers.

Dieter gas revealed to the media: "We agreed that there will be no more team orders this year. Each racer will race for himself from the first lap of the first race to the finish line in the last race.«

Such a change does not only mean free racing, but also a change in the position of strategists, who determined what they must or can do for a team goal during races with the help of simulations, predictions and conversations.  Gass he added: "On behalf of Audi, we had to win races and championships. We had a common goal where just this tool was allowed. But that is now a thing of the past. And it’s good for sports. But that doesn’t mean racers can now race on their own. It is still true that a racer racing for Audi must not collide. Only we will not interfere in the races anymore. "

Za Berger the abolition of team orders is important, as last season ended with the help of the so-called non-aggression pact between Rene Rastom in Nick Mueller.
