formula 1 wants already in season 2023 fully bet on synthetic fuel. It's a colleague from car engine and sport confirmed Gilles Simon, head of the motor department of the umbrella organization FIA. By doing so, they accelerated theirs once again original plan, because they actually wanted a share of the so-called E-fuel increase by 20 percent each year.

But now the years follow 2023 jump in full. FIA so far he sees two production possibilities E-fuel: once through chemical processes with carbon dioxide and hydrogenand secondly on the basis biological waste. The umbrella organization does not want to exclude any of these routes. Quite the opposite: To gain for this plan fuel companies, they can choose a completely different approach if they find it, of course.

In 2023, Formula 1 will race exclusively on synthetic fuel.

FIA has already acquired these fuels for testing purposes, which will be tested in a real Formula 1 engine. These would not fundamentally change because of the new fuel, especially since it will engine development to the year 2025 one way or another limited. New fuel it will also not be more expensive in the medium term than it is now. formula 1 per season needs around one million liters of fuel. "That sounds like a lot, but it’s a small amount. Producing this quantity would not be a problem," so Simon.
