Herbert DIESS: VW GROUP CHIEF prefers Formula 1 to Formula E.

The head of the VW concern, Herbert Diess, is surprisingly disapproving of Fomula E in his statements, in which two brands of the said concern compete. Let’s see why he sees a future in Formula 1.

The eternal dilemma - Volkswagen in formula 1. The relationship between the Wolfsburg-based car company and the royal class of motorsport has been vague and difficult for decades. Especially under Ferdinand Piech on one and Bernie Ecclestone both sides went completely apart.

Even with the arrival Herbert Diess to the position of the first husband of the concern from Wolfsburg, things have not changed too much, but it seems that they may in the future at VW turn the plate over anyway. Diess namely, it is on the social network LinkedIn presented his vision comparisons between Formula 1 and Formula E.

“If F1 can become CO2-neutral with the use of synthetic fuels, this can be a much more exciting and fun technology competition than Formula E, which takes a few laps in city centers in a gaming style ” he says Diess.

The VW Group has two teams in Formula E, but the first man of the concern sings praises to Formula 1. Is this a sign that Volkswagen could enter the queen of motorsport?

Ta Diess' statement, which is a direct response to the article Bill Gates about CO2-neutral mobility of the future is a severe blow to Formula E for two reasons.

First time: Diess made his statement severely devalued Formula E. This is quite surprising because VW Group z Audience in Porsche in the electric formula it competes with as many as two brands. Both Formula E teams above the statement “Supreme chief” we should not be overly enthusiastic.

Second: VW has left all racing series where racing with internal combustion engines, most recently the World Touring Car Championship. The official reason is that the group wants to focus entirely on e-mobility. So they came up with a prototype ID.R submitted to Pikes Peak and broke the record at the famous Green Hell Nürburgring.

But all of a sudden, the boss of VW, Herbert diess, became Formula 1 supporter. Volkswagen has been reunited with Formula 1 for years Porsche decided to enter from 2021, but in the end nothing came out of it. The truth remains that v 70 years of Formula 1 Volkswagen has never been a part of this competition.
