The eternal dilemma - Volkswagen in formula 1. The relationship between the Wolfsburg-based car company and the royal class of motorsport has been vague and difficult for decades. Especially under Ferdinand Piech on one and Bernie Ecclestone both sides went completely apart.

“If F1 can become CO2-neutral with the use of synthetic fuels, this can be a much more exciting and fun technology competition than Formula E, which takes a few laps in city centers in a gaming style ” he says Diess.
