GP of ITALY, qualifications: Declarations of the first THREE

Lewis Hamilton drove his 94th pole poisition, Valtteri Bottas was right behind him, which is already the usual picture this year. Third place, however, is certainly a surprise, as it was won by Carlos Sainz of McLaren.

The qualifications are behind us Grand Prix of Italy in Monza, where he was Mercedes again a chapter unto itself. Lewis Hamilton he also took first place without special engine settings and will start tomorrow's race from the best place. We can only guess what it would be like track record with the so-called Party Mode.

Second place went to him Valtteri Bottas, which only rounds out the dominance silver arrows, who apparently subscribed to the first starting line-up this year. Third Carlos Sainz it is surprise and a nice change at the same time as we were also used to it for Mercedes ranked Max Vesttappen.

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - pole position"It wasn't that bad. Behind me is a fantastic team that sent me to the track every time at the best time. It just wasn’t, as we could see. Valtteri was putting good pressure on me, so I needed a free circle that also had to be clean. I managed that today, so I am satisfied. We once again worked hard on the race car to improve balance. Before qualifying, I was a little nervous if it would pay off, but it worked out well. It’s just crazy what speed we achieve with these race cars, for example in Lesmo corners. It’s important to get out of certain turns well and to take the momentum for the next plane. We did it all."

Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes - second place"Anything is possible tomorrow. It was very tight today and I expected that too. In both training and qualifying, I showed that I can be in the forefront. In the end, it didn’t work out for the hair. Yes, I am disappointed, but the points are shared tomorrow. That’s why I’m happy with the first starting row, because I know my racing speed is at Lewis level. And then there is a very long way to the first turn. Over the years, we have seen that it is possible to come to the forefront from another species as well. Tomorrow, everything is possible for me, the opportunities that I want to take advantage of are opening up."

Carlos Sainz, McLaren - third place"From the very beginning of qualifying, I felt strong. We did Q1 with just one set of tires, so we were able to save for Q3. From the first round it went like clockwork and then we were able to improve. In the last round, almost everything went wrong. I almost lost my car in the first turn of Lesma, and from here on I drove with a knife between my teeth and still tremble. We can be really happy with this result, but we still stay nice on the ground. Because we are not in third place in terms of racing speed. However, we will sell our skin very expensively."
