RENAULT: We would rather PARTNERS than just BUYERS of our engines

Renault is still interested in supplying powertrains to other teams, but the French want partners, not just customers.

Renault engine it is also available to other teams for a certain price, who then try to do what they can with it. The French don’t want it completely anymore in the future the classic seller-buyer relationship and wants more partnership with teams to work with in the future.

It will be next year Renault made only engines for his own team, which will be renamed v Alpine. No other team in Formulas 1 namely, it no longer relies on French powertrains, since at McLarn decided to use it next season Mercedes.

This has advantages and disadvantages, but the team boss Cyril Abiteboul he is happy that now the manufacturer could only focus on his team. However does not preclude participation with other teams in the future if conditions are right.

"It has to be a partner team instead of a classic powertrain customer," explain at Renault. “A classic customer doesn’t bring you anything. On the other hand, a partner can bring you added value. A partner can help you achieve both sporting and economic goals. The financial transaction has been achieved one way or another, so there are more opportunities for the sporting and technical side of cooperation. ”

Cyril Abiteboul says that at Renault they want a partnership with the team that will supply the powertrains.

Many here see the potential for re-engagement between Renault in Red Bullom, saj Honda has not yet officially confirmed that it will remain in Formula 1 beyond 2021. Alliance Red Bull - Renault was extremely successful at the beginning of the last decade, but the collaboration ended miserably two years ago. That's why Abiteboul he does not see the real possibility of a partnership with the Austrian team.
