At the start of the racing weekend GP Bahrain je Pirelli assigned to each racer two sets of tire prototypes for the 2021 season with hardness C3, after the test, the Italians certainly did not like the feedback. About new tires that differ from previous ones not only in composition but also construction and shape, the racers did not find a single nice word.
He was especially critical Lewis Hamilton, who explained: "Every year we have a Pirelli team on the spot at every racing weekend and I have a lot of respect for these guys who bring our tires to the racetrack and are committed to our safety. But unfortunately, we’ve had the same tires in the last two years, because the latest prototypes that Pirelli wanted to introduce in the new season were significantly worse than their predecessors. So they had two years to make better tires and now we have new tires again, which is three kilograms heavier, which means a second slower per lap. I know it’s not a big difference for the fans, but from a racer’s point of view, it’s something else."
Hamilton continues: “We work with brands and partners who take the lead in technology and drive things forward. But if two years of development will take a step back, then I don't even know what's going on," so Britishwhich nevertheless explains: "When driving with these tires, the feeling is definitely not good and even that fills me with worry. I would prefer to keep the current tires if these are the best they can do and they are definitely a better choice. Then it would definitely be better if we stayed with them."
