The Briton does not officially have a contract for next season yet, but he is expected to be with Mercedes by the start of the season. Unofficially Hamilton set its bar for next season at forty million dollars, and negotiations are expected to be completed by early February.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old took some time off and spent the New Year in the Caribbean, on the Turks and Caicos Islands, where he most likely felt quite at home, as it is British overseas territory, which is also known as a tax haven. At the same time, of course Hamilton also has Caribbean roots as his father Anthony was born on a Caribbean island of Grenada.
