It's 2020 Lance stroll on paper concluded his the best season Formula 1 so far. The Canadian was on the podium twice, winning his own first pole position and finished the driving championship in eleventh place. He had never been so high. Still, the 22-year-old believes he could in the last year achieved much more.
"It wasn't the best year for me," admits Stroll and explains: “It’s been a year of many opportunities that we missed, so it’s all a bit frustrating all together. But it's all part of a sport where there are ups and downs. ” Of course, he achieved in 2020 “Some important moments”, among other things his course first pole position in Turkey and two places on the podium.
"But I think we had a lot more opportunities for the podium," he said Stroll, looked back at the 2020 season and explained that he also missed a lot of points in it. It started right at the start in Spielberg, when he did not see the checkered flag due to a malfunction of the Mercedes engine and was forced to championship start with zero on the first race.
In the third race of the season in Budapest they had their first chance for the podium. “Hungary was a nice option for the podium. But the rain turned things upside down, ” he remembers Stroll, who then started the race in third place and is in fourth place at the end missed by a hair steps.
First steps years followed a few weeks later at Monza. But it is here too Stroll missed a nice opportunity as I could on that one chaotic races also won. Some even say he should win the race at Monza. The race at Mugello a week later was "For sure" another opportunity for the podium.
"We were in fourth and in the fight for third place and we had a much better pace," he remembers Stroll, who in the end did not see the checkered flag due to the punctured tire. For the Canadian, this was the start of a series of five races in a row with no points. He even had to drop out due to a coronavirus infection Eiffel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.
