PHILIPPINES customs smash LUXURY and SPORTS cars again

Rodrigo Duterte and the Philippine authorities are not giving in to the fight against the illegal import of expensive cars.

In August 2020, the Philippine authorities seized an extremely rare McLaren 620R, after claiming from the importer that it was Porsche Cayman and thus tried to avoid paying tax. Under the rule Rodrigo Duterteja such cars mostly end up in car scraps after being picked up by Philippine customs officials, as shown by their video posted on YouTube.

This time, they smashed seven luxury and sports cars they were on Philippines imported between the years 2018 and 2020, and among them they were next to the aforementioned McLarn Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Porsche 911 C2S in Lotus Elise.

Such public car smashing is part of it tactics of Duterte’s governmentto scare away car importers who would like to cheat on import deals. This time the “batch” of cars (along with the mentioned seven, they broke 14 others) was worth a little over a million dollars, and in 2018 alone, the Philippine authorities destroyed six million dollars cars.
