Sebastian VETTEL on the collision with Lance STROL: A misunderstanding due to the situation

Aston Martin experienced a race to oblivion. In Russia, teammates Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll came too close, which, according to the German, was a misunderstanding caused by the situation.

Stays bitter aftertaste, because in the race GP of Russia could Aston Martin probably achieved more than that 11th and 12th place both racers.

It was possible great result for the team, as well as the resignation of both, who came dangerously close towards the end of the race. Sebastian Vettel said of this difficult situation: "There was a misunderstanding here. Lance couldn't see me at all at a given moment in the back right in a blind spot, and he probably didn't expect me to show up either. But luckily it all ended well.”The pictures showed how the two cars were racing Aston Martin touched with the wheels, and even more so how it is Hag slid along the guardrail.

It's about the race itself four-time world champion said: “In the first part of the race, I got stuck in a column of race cars that could all drive with the rear wing open. When the rain came, the race became a lottery. At first I thought it was 50:50 whether to put on rain tires or not. We knew the rain was coming, but I had a feeling it was going to be just a light rain and it was going to stay that way, so I stayed outside at first. In the beginning, it still went. Of course, we hoped we could save a stop and win some seats. But then the rain intensified and it caught us on the wrong foot."

Lance Stroll also confirmed after the race that there was a misunderstanding in the case of a close meeting with teammate Sebastian Vettl. But later, the Canadian got involved with Pierre Gasly, causing the race commissioners to penalize him with two penalty points, so now the Aston Martin racer leads with eight points in this unpopular category.

Hag continues: “So we went for rain tires one lap too late and that threw us back. If it starts to rain so late in the race, then there are always opportunities, but we couldn't do anything about it. Like our competitors, we took a risk, but the tab on the scales unfortunately turned against us. In the end, it has more to do with luck than experience. It’s a shame for us, of course, but the fans were able to see the tense race and Lewis claimed his 100th win. This is a huge success for him, which he fully deserved today."
