According to media reports, the parties could not agree on a price, but the Italian branch of the portal Motorsport.com reports that there is much more behind this rift.
Finn Rausing, a Swedish billionaire who owns Alfa Romeo, is dating Michael Andretti could not agree on a possible sale of the team. In addition to economic reasons, they are said to be related to this business additional requirements, with which Andretti disagreed. Rausing it is supposed to demand guarantees for the future, not only for the Formula 1 team, but for the whole group Clean, who is behind the Alfa Romeo Racing team. What exactly these guarantees are is not known, but there is a possibility that the talks have stalled (or rather interrupted) because Andretti's interest is limited to Formula 1 only. Rausing however, he wants to avoid hurting Sauber in the long run.
The rift between the two sides in between interrupts the possibility of Andretti's racer in the IndyCar series Colton herta found in Formula 1. It seemed that the deal had already been concluded anyway, as Herta in simulator v Hinwil performed the first virtual kilometers. He was even supposed to be in the race US GP in Austin at the first free practice performed instead Chemistry Raikkonen, but this, as we know, did not happen.
Clean will thus continue with the current structure for the time being. The biggest question that arises now is who will be in the season 2022 raced next to Valtteria Bottas. Because of a failed deal with Andretti, he could be a young American Colton Herta we delete. Who else is left?
