VERSTAPPEN: “Third place is NOT GREAT, but it is better than SECOND”

Max Verstappen had hoped for what many also firmly believed in, namely in the pole position at the Mexican GP qualifiers, but the matter turned upside down.

At the racetrack Hermanos Rodriguez Autodrome they were both faster at the decisive moment Mercedesa, which is at Red Bullu understandably caused great disappointment. But Verstappen knows that points are shared in a race.

"It seemed as if the balance of the race car with the qualifications had slightly decreased,”He said immediately after the qualifications, visibly disappointed Verstappen. "In fact, I wasn’t in a good circle on the last try and I don’t know what happened in front of me, but both guys went off the track. I thought there was going to be a yellow flag, so I slowed down and the circle was ruined. Even without that, we knew we didn’t have a good balance to be able to fight for pole position. The third place is not great, but it is better than the second."

Here Verstappen think of a long plane that can provide good until the first turn leeward. The Dutchman also clarified the matter with adhesive tape on the rear wing, which was installed due to a crack, but in his opinion, this did not affect the time. “We had to fix it, but I think everything was normal in the qualifiers again. It’s not ideal, but I don’t think that was the reason why we had trouble qualifying." Verstappen has not yet given up on winning today's race. “There is much more we can fight for."
