Damon HILL: Why are VERSTAPPEN and HAMILTON so different from the others?

According to Damon Hill, it’s no surprise that Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are so far ahead of the rest of the racers. The 1996 world champion believes that both title contenders are pushing for a higher level.

If Lewis Hamilton in Max Verstappen we ask if this year try harder as usual, you’ll probably hear from both that they always work as hard as they can.

Damon Hill in the podcast F1Nation explain that this is not the case. The Brit says that as a racer you get more out of yourselfwhen you fight for prizes. “I didn’t look like the greatest talent in Formula 1, but then I had a few races with Michael Schumacher and I was able to keep up. The only explanation I have for this is that Michael forced me to get more out of myself. And I had to do that to be able to win. I pulled more out of myself when it really mattered."

Damon Hill explains why Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are so different from the other racers.

Former racer Formula 1 continues: “There is a big difference between racing for tenth place and fighting to win. Any racer will deny this and say he always does his best, but when you know everyone is watching you because you’re fighting to win, you give a little more. In eleventh place, it's a disappointment, because nobody cares," so Hill.
