GP BAHRAIN, Qualifications: The first POLE POSITION of the 2022 season was secured by CHARLES LECLERC

For many, it is no surprise that Ferrari is back in the fight for the top spots and this has already been shown in tests, especially in training here in Bahrain. What about Bottas in Alfa Romeo?

Charles Leclerc in Ferrari are the big winners of today’s qualifiers GP Bahrain. Because in third place we find another Scuderia racer, namely Carlos Sainz. Among them, the big favorite of the race Max Verstappen v Red Bullu.

Fourth place was taken by the second racer Red Bulla Sergio Perez, fifth Lewis Hamilton, but he can't really boast of being half a second behind - despite the double breeze offered by his new teammate George Russell.

Max Verstappen announced in Q1 and Q2 that he wanted a pole position, but had to settle for second place.

Sixth and seventh place special mention should be made. Because it is occupied by two racers, which I would not expect there because of the race cars - looking at last season. Sixth Valtteri Bottas in the Alfa Romeo, a good half a second faster than its successor in the Mercedes George Russell. Seventh Kevin Magnussen in Haas, a team that had three flashbacks last year by ranking in Q2. Now in Q3! Eighth place went to Fernando Alonso in the Alps, he was ninth Russell, the tenth Pierre Gasly.

Q1 - End for both Aston Martin and Ricciardo

Both AlphaTaur racers were the first to go hunting for lap time Pierre Gasly in Yuki tsunoda. The latter spent the third training session in the team garage. As if by team, both racers were next McLaren, but then more and more racers decided to make the first attempts. He set the first decisive time Max Verstappen, which dropped below 1: 32 minutes. And while we were thrilled with both racers Haas, who set good times, however Charles Leclerc once again reminded that his desire was to win pole position. He was a good three tenths of a second faster than the racer Red Bulla. He overtook the latter Carlos Sainz, who was less than a tenth behind his teammate.

Lewis Hamilton managed to infiltrate before Magnussen, but only for a thousandth of a second. In front of him came his teammate Valtteri Bottas, his replacement at Mercedes George Russell however, he also swung in front of Hamilton. In the last minute, however, a bitter struggle for the cities that still lead to the second part, namely honey McLarn in Aston Martin in the lead roles. The latter pulled a shorter end as they both Lance stroll in Nico Hulkenberg remained in the first part of the qualifications. The same fate befell him Daniel Ricciard, Tsunodo in Latifia.

Q2 - Max as the first racer under 1:31 minutes, Haas in Q3

The second part of the qualifiers also started with both races of the team Haas, which is no longer surprising for many - especially after what was shown in the last tests and the first three trainings. He was the first to go on a time hunt in Q2 Albon with Williams. More interesting, however, was the next candidate, namely Kevin Magnussen. Right behind him, however, was a teammate Mick Schumacher. The Dane has, over time 1: 31.431 minutes swung to first place, Schumacher was half a second behind, then exploded: Max Verstappen has reached the time 1: 30.757 minutes.

He tried behind him first Charles Leclerc with Ferrari, but was only able to get closer to the Dutchman by 0,6 seconds. He was a few hundredths behind in third place Sergio Perez. Magnussen was still in fourth place at the time, too Hamilton he could not endanger it. Attack Russella nor did it bear fruit, Sainz in seventh place, however, he will have to venture. The last three places still leading in Q3 are currently occupied by both racers Alpine in Valtteri Bottas in Alfa Romeo.

He followed last attack racers to advance to the third part of the qualifications. Both racers were among the first to hit the track Mercedesa, and before them he went hunting Verstappen submitted by Leclerc. Monachan he managed to close the gap, but did not overtake the Dutchman. He was even more of a racer Red Bullbut approached by his teammate Sainz. In the last sighs, both Mercedes racers finished fifth and sixth, Hamilton in front of Russell, Perez landed in fourth place, Magnussen he remained seventh, eighth Alonso, ninth gasly and tenth Bottas.

3 - Charles Leclerc in pole position

It started hunting ten at first pole position this season, the first with a generation of 2022 racers. And both racers were the first to try again Mercedesa, and it was immediately apparent that he would be the first Russell offered a breeze Hamilton. Also Leclerc he meanwhile drove to the track, followed by another Sainz in Verstappen. Both silver arrows began to form, at what point Hamilton this ultimately helped that good tithe seconds beat a new teammate. An attack by both followed Ferrari and both Red Bullov. And surprise, first Sainz, second Leclerc and only the third Verstappen. All three, however, v five hundredths of a second!! Magnussen, Alonso and Bottas opted for just one attempt.

Weak four minutes before the end, the start of the grand finale. Last attempt racers to improve their times. Pri Mercedes same song again: Russell offered a breeze Hamilton. They both improved their times, but far from pole position. He held that at a given moment Charles Leclerc, the other was his teammate Carlos Sainz. Attack Max Verstappen he looked good until the last sector, but this third sector did not allow him to put himself in first place. He overtook by three thousandths Sainz, otherwise the first starting line-up would shine in red.
