SsangYong TORRES EVX – a robust electric SUV from Korea

SsangYong has released official photos of its new Torres model for the first time. Will it also get an AWD version? We'll find out soon enough.

At the beginning of February this year we got the first ones spy photos of the upcoming electric vehicle from SsangYong. The South Korean manufacturer is now publishing the first photos of its electric SUVwhich bears the name Torres EVX. Not all the details are known yet, but the automaker will tell us everything we want March 30 at the Mobility Fair in Seoul.

At first glance, it is electric Torres very similar to its internal combustion engine sibling that debuted last June. The side profile is almost unchanged, greater differences but they are in front. Mask of the model on battery powered is slightly more elegant with six LED dots in the middle between the LED lights and on the corners of the upper part. Torres and with the petrol engine it takes a more traditional approach with headlights instead of those LED assemblies in the electric model.

Interior of the electric Torres differs greatly from the z model 1,5-liter turbo engine, which is not very popular in the automotive industry today. Big screen in style tablet computer it's replaced in the middle with a two-screen layout that's similar in general design to what it offers BMW. The console below the center screen is also different and there doesn't seem to be another system screen below it HVAC. We can't see the rest of the dashboard, but we can see that the steering wheel has physical buttons on either side.

When designing the dashboard, the Koreans obviously looked at the interior of BMW.

Unfortunately, however SsangYong, which will soon be officially renamed to KG Mobility, does not reveal the details of what lies beneath the skin Torres EVX. However, the automaker already has an electric crossover in model form Korando e-Motion with one electric motor on the front axle that produces 190 BAM. This electric vehicle uses a capacity battery 55,3 kWh, which allows him to 340 kilometers range between the two charges in the WLPT cycle. Due to its more robust appearance and larger dimensions Torres EVX we won't be surprised to see some hardware upgrades and maybe an all-wheel drive version. We're sure to find out more March 30.
