BMW 5 series with LONG wheelbase for CHINA

BMW presented in May this year new series 5 for the North American and European markets, and now the automaker has introduced a version of the premium sedan for the Chinese market as well. Along with the i5 model, the new 5 Series has acquired some features that are exclusive to People's Republic, and both models will be assembled at the joint venture's Dadong plant BMW Brilliance.

With length 506 cm the new 5 Series is already longer than its predecessor, but in China the sedan will only be sold as a long-wheelbase model. BMW unfortunately, it does not provide information about its dimensions, but given that it was the previous generation series 5 Li about 13 inches longer than the standard model, the newbie is likely to be approx 520 centimeters.

A longer length also has a positive effect on vehicle wheelbase, so rear passengers have more legroom. That's not the only improvement over the standard 5 Series though – China got one too 31,1-inch panoramic screen with 8K resolution and 5G connectivity borrowed from the 7 Series. Other features available on both the combustion engine model and its all-electric sibling include four-zone climate control and a premium audio system Bower & Wilkins.

For the Chinese market, the 5 Series also has an illuminated letter 5.

Model for China it did not remain intact even on the outside. While the new LED headlights and kidney grille outline lighting are not new at the front, the model comes standard with a market-exclusive illuminated letter 5. This is located in the area of the Hofmeister fault at pillar C and at to the i5 model flashes bright blue when the vehicle is charging. At series 5 with an internal combustion engine, the number lights up in white.

BMW will soon begin sales of the new 5 Series vehicle family in China. Since the start of local production of the sedan, more than two million units have been delivered to customers. From 2020 to 2022 alone, approx 530.000 cars.
