Mercedes-AMG is planning a sports sedan and crossover based on AMG.EA

The sedan will be launched in 2025, and the crossover a year later.

Mercedes-AMG he was supposed to plan two models based on the new platform AMG.EA: a sleek sports sedan due in 2025 and a similarly designed crossover due in 2026. Both are apparently standalone AMG models and not just the high-performance version of the Mercedes model (as in the EQE and EQS models).

Just like the model Mercedes AMG GT Coupé in GT 4-Door Coupe the newcomer is also being developed at the Mercedes branch in Affalterbach (25 km north of Stuttgart), reports Autocar, citing unnamed sources. The look is supposed to be based on the study Vision AMG from 2022, which envisages a sports sedan that will compete with Porsche Taycan and replaced the GT four-door coupe. The crossover version is supposed to look similar, but of course, it is supposed to be significantly higher. With a length of approx 5,10 meters the model should obviously compete in the luxury class. This would make the car similar in size to an SUV Eqs.

Axial current electric motor from Yasa, which is expected to power the new Mercedes AMG models

AMG SUV will be the second model on the platform after the sports sedan AMG.EA. With the platform, it is already clear that the car will be equipped with new ones axial current electric motors from the company Yasa. These disk drives are designed to provide particularly high torque and higher power density than commonly used radial flow motors. Batteries will be equipped with cells Sila with a high silicon content in the anode. This will allow for higher energy density. The car will also have 800 volt fast charging architecture.

The basis of the two new models on the AMG.EA platform is said to be the Vision AMG concept, signed by Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes

Platform it enables rear-wheel drive with one or two motors and all-wheel drive with two, three or four motors. According to the company Yes sa axial flow motor developed for AMG.EA, offers up to 360 kW in 590 Nm of torque. This would allow drives with a power of up to 1.440 kW. However, not all possible configurations will be used. With more electric motors on the axle it would actually be possible torque steer, which would make the vehicle particularly nimble when cornering. Suspension supposed to be based on the system Active ride control (Mercedes explanation) from the model Mercedes AMG GT Coupé. It is an air suspension system with adjustable spring force and damping for each wheel.

Mercedes Vision AMG

Among rivals of the new crossover they will too lotus eletre in Porsche K1. Like the sports sedan, it will be produced in Sindelfingen. In addition to both models AMG.EA Mercedes' sports division is also said to be planning a version AMG new model Mercedes CLA on the platform MMA and powerful versions of the next generation models GLA and GLB.
