Lewis Hamilton: A temptation called Ferrari?

Mercedes racer Lewis Hamilton spoke here at Monza about the Italian Grand Prix race week and his attitude towards typhoid, and the Briton also reveals what will change if he races for Ferrari.

Current world champion will be hunting his own this weekend sixth victory in Monza. Lewis Hamilton won here in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. The Briton is convinced: “This weekend, hard work is ahead of us. Ferrari had a very fast race car in Belgium. And I'm sure it will be the same here in Monza. The weather will be a bit crazy and will have some impact.”Does Lewis expect the greatest resistance from Charles Leclerc? "If you win a race, then it’s often easier to repeat that on the next race as well, because you’re in a rush and on top of that, the tracks at Spa and Monza are very similar."

Maybe Lewis Hamilton found himself in a temptation that sounds like a Ferrari name?

Like all real racers, too Hamilton adores this traditional Monza trail. “Monza is an amazing trail. I like its floor plan, and I also like the aerodynamic setting of the car with perfectly flat wings. It’s an old-fashioned track that gives its note to the race, where the racers dance lightly over the curbs. As a bonus, we also have a great history and, of course, fanatical fans. If we add it all up, Monza is unique."

By the way typhoid: How did Hamilton find himself with passionate Ferrari fans? "I have many fans here in Italy. I sell most of my clothes in Germany, but Italy is already in second place. I’ve gained a lot of fans here over the years. At Monza, I also had the privilege of standing on the winners ’stage several times, even though more than 90 percent of the fans wanted the Ferrari to win, but I still received a lot of praise. For example: 'Okay, our heart beats for Ferrari, but we respect your results.' Basically, however, something would change only when racing in a Ferrari. And the fans keep telling me, ‘Come finally to Ferrari!' "

Lewis Hamilton has often stood on the winners' stage here in Monza, and has a good relationship with Ferrar's fans of typhoid.

Hand on heart: But it's negligence Lewis Hamilton based on these messages fell into temptation? "I don’t know if this is a temptation. Today, I was asked if, at the end of my career, I wouldn’t be desperate to be finished without ever racing for a Ferrari. However, I myself say this: If you are part of the Mercedes family, then this is for life. Look at names like Stirling Moss or Juan Manuel Fangio. You are part of the true rich history of Mercedes. If the day comes when I decide whether I need a new challenge, then that may change. But this is not the case at the time."
