McLaren continues restructuring: ANDREA STELLA the new racing director of the team

The McLaren team finished fourth behind the big three last season, but clearly that’s not enough for the traditional Woking team. Their restructuring continues.

McLaren continues its team renewal. This is evidenced by the fact that it is Andrea Stella from performance director advanced to racing team director. The restructuring of the team that began with the arrival Andreas Seidl, the team boss, was successful because the team established itself last season as “The best of the Rest”For the big three Mercedes, Ferrari in Red Bull. What’s more, they also overshadowed the engine supplier, the factory team Renault.

This could be done with by restructuring, which began with by recruiting technical chief James Key and the arrival of a new team boss Andreas Seidl. Stella, which after the 2014 season from Ferrari moved to McLarn, will take over in the future guidance on the track and will be so in charge of both technical as well as operational matters. He will work closely with Keym and production manager Pierre Thynne, who joined the team in July last year.

Renovation is also needed, because the last victory McLaren goes far back to the year 2012. Although the team has been around for years 2013 in 2014 survived the crisis, where they performed with Mercedes engines are for bad performances between the years 2015 in 2017 mainly blamed on the motor partner Hondo. But even after the transition to Renault leta 2018, the season did not go as desired.

James Key, who joined McLaren from Toro Ross, is also credited with last year’s success of the team, which finished fourth behind the big three.

Because of this it came in Woking to cutting heads. Victims the poor forms of success of the accustomed team were the head of the team Eric boullier, technical chief Tim Goss and chief engineer Matt morris. The measures have shown an effect and the renovation is not yet complete. From year 2021 bo McLaren again collaborated with a former longtime motor partner Mercedes. Just in time to start extensive changes to the policy, which will take effect next year.
