CHRISTIAN HORNER: MERCEDES has a very fast car

Team boss Red Bull spoke of Max Verstappn’s third place with a damaged race car and Alex Albon’s fourth place. In terms of Mercedes, he says: "They have a very fast car, we need to improve."

Team Red Bull she couldn’t keep up with speed in the second race of the season Mercedesa. Will we experience comparable phenomenon from the season 2019when the red bulls needed time to get all the potential out of the race car?

Christian horner it states: "No, I think we have made progress with the race car compared to the first race. The Mercedes was simply powerful. Colder conditions helped them, more than us. We need to improve in all areas. Strategically this was not an easy race for us, Valtteri was fast enough to have the answer to both of our options. So he stayed on the track for a long time. So we limited ourselves to defending our position on the track, and there was nothing more we could do. Mercedes is very strong on the plane. We were able to keep up with them in the turns. No doubt Mercedes did a great job before the season."

Christian Horner, team leader Red Bull, points out that Mercedes has a very fast car, which is why they need to improve in the next race.

Team boss Red Bull added: “Max’s speed against Lewis at the start of the race was not bad. But then there was damage to the right end plate of the front wing. The end plate of the rear wing also suffered minor damage. One part of the front wing got stuck in the side air deflector, which to some extent affected the balance of the car. We believe this contributed to excessive tire wear at the end of the race. The injury to Max probably happened at the exit of turn number 9, which our engineers determined based on the data."

For Alex Albon, however, Horner said that the young Tajec had problems with handling at the beginning of the race with a heavier car, and in the second half he was already showing the right speed.

Za Albon it is British said: “Alex had to some extent two races in one. He struggled in the first half and his speed was good in the second. We need to see these in peace now, but it doesn’t seem to have felt good with the handling of a car with a full tank. It is now up to us to improve that. He was later partially faster than Bottas, meaning the base speed matched. Taken as a whole, he drove a good race," so Horner, which adds: "We are now traveling to the Hungaroring, we could be stronger there than here, but Mercedes will no doubt be fast there as well."
