Planned race c Imoli poses a particular challenge for drivers Formula 1. Because the event will only take place two days, will only be available and trainingto get used to the track - and in a race where Formula 1 races have not been organized since season 2006.
"It's going to be a big challenge for me," says the team driver Haas, Kevin Magnussen. "Because I've never been on this track before." In fact, in the current line-up, only one Formula 1 driver has racing experience in a Formula 1 car from that racetrack, namely Kimi Räikkönen, who finished in fifth place in 2006. For all the other racers, the track is actually almost a complete unknown.
Romain Grosjean he hopes that he may get some opportunity to get to know the trail in another way: "Maybe we can get to know Imola with the help of a lower series car or train at home in a simulator."
“It would be a really good idea if we could get to know the trail better with the help of e.g. Formula 3 race car, ” agrees Grosjean's teammate Magnussen. He was preparing for this season in a similar way Lando Norris.
Grosjean is, meanwhile, convinced that it is welcome that the event be reduced to just two days: “I think it’s interesting if you try a few new things. This is a year in which we can do that, simply because the year was different one way or another, ” says the Frenchman. "But I think top teams will still have an advantage because they have better preparations."
