Zak Brown stressed once again that for McLaren first priority successful performance in Formulas 1, regardless of the fact that they are also active in the series IndyCar and that they intend to participate in some other series. "Formula 1 is our most important area of operation," he pointed out Brown at the edge of the race car presentation McLaren MCL35M.
“We have successfully joined the IndyCar series in our program and made our partners more recognizable in the North American markets. With our partner from the IndyCar series, Arrow Electronics, we are now successfully cooperating in Formula 1 as well, ” emphasizes Brown.
McLaren has otherwise in the series IndyCar a successful history behind him, having already competed among the American elite of one-seater cars between 1970 and 1979. In 1974 and 1976, with Johnny Rutherford also celebrated in the famous race for 500 miles from Indianapolis. Last year, the team from Woking returned to the IndyCar series in collaboration with the team Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
Lately, there have been louder hints to make McLaren could also pass on with the new race car 24 hours Le Mans and into the DPi Championship, which will replace the current series in 2023 IMSA.
