Track restrictions. This is practically the red thread of hot debates from the very beginning of this season, which obviously do not seem to have an end.

Only on the last racing weekend GP Monaco there hasn’t been much talk about it because of the street track, but they are different track restrictions at every event Formula 1 agenda item. However, obviously not for that no solution.

In a conversation with colleagues from Car picture, is Helmut Marko critically responded to the rules on track restrictions. His team Red Bull this rule has already cost a few championship points. Here the Austrian had in mind Max Verstappen, which was hit by track restrictions in the inaugural race of the season in Bahrain and deprived him of the victory, and later he was once again left without the best starting place. Of course he doesn't see it no sense, but it bothers him most of all indifference the rule itself.

"We need to ask ourselves whether this rule makes sense at all. Why draw some lines if there is enough space? What bothers me the most is the lack of consistency and firmness in punishing. Sometimes a penalty of a bonus of five seconds is imposed, sometimes ten seconds and sometimes a penalty of driving through the pits. In short, it asks me the question: is it necessary to have track restrictions at all? I argue no. What I understand: It takes time to adjust the tracks,”So the chief consultant Red Bull Racing.

Michael Masi, FIA director of racing, agrees with Mark, but points out that due to the different tracks in the Formula 1 championship, it is difficult to achieve consistency of the track limitation rule - Photo: HB Press

Also Michael Massi, The FIA race director would like to see it differently. However, it is Australian confirmed what he says Marko namely, that different types of tracks are the main reason that consistency is difficult to achieve. “Ideally, we would have a hard line everywhere. However, we drive on different tracks. If we look at the security aspect, we need to find the best balance of everything in every situation," he said Masi.
